Emily, our PMD, started work at the end of last week, and the results of her endeavours are already visible to those of us who know the project. Views of the promo, out-takes and website are well up - and “likes” of the Facebook page are moving in the right direction too. Oh and we now have a dedicated Pissheads Twitter account - @PissheadsFNA. Emily and I will be meeting in about 10 days time to further discuss our strategy and how we can better engage the audience that we are starting to build. If you guys have any ideas - feel free to post them in the comments below or onto the Facebook page.
Next week things start getting really serious as I have a big meeting with Biz-Plan Guy, Number-Cruncher Lady and Finance-Structure Guru to work out exactly how the money will work and how people will recoup and all of that mullarkey - stuff that I don’t really understand, but people expect me to make decisions on! That’s why I’m a firm believer in teams; just as film production is a collaboration so too are the other stages of the process - and I don’t think it’s possible for one person to be an expert in all aspects of the filmmaking universe - even Robert Rodriguez!
2010 is really shaping up into being a vintage year for independent filmmakers - a kind of watershed moment when the old structures are beginning to disintegrate and the new routes are still being formulated. Like everything web/ digital related at the moment a bit like the Wild West, where the brave will win out and conquer the new frontier. Which brings to mind two things that I’ve heard in the last couple of weeks - one is that the Chinese symbol for crisis is the same as for opportunity (apparently an urban myth - but I DO like it) and the other is my new favourite French phrase (after “Je voudrais une bouteille de bière froide”) - Bon Courage.
One last thing, you may have noticed (or perhaps you haven’t) that we now have a resources page - I’m going to keep adding links to it that filmmakers may find useful. If you have any pages that yo think should be there - then please get in touch. And also - more importantly - as FNA Films is a new syndication affiliate of Living Spirit Pictures, the resources page now streams Chris Jones’ Production Office Show Live on Thursdays at 7:30pm UK time. Tune in here for your once weekly dose of filmmaking tips and commentary by filmmakers for filmmakers - it’s absolutely bonkers!
