"The nine-to-five is one of the greatest atrocities sprung upon mankind. You give your life away to a function that doesn't interest you. This situation so repelled me that I was driven to drink, starvation, and mad females, simply as an alternative."
Charles Bukowski aka The Barfly
Since the dawn of civilization, the North East of England has always managed to attract visitors from faraway lands. Disparate hordes who brought with them their own unique customs and beliefs that helped shape the region and make it what it is today - a shining paragon of art and culture, rich in tradition, heritage and history. From the Romans to the Anglo-Saxons to the Vikings, leading up to the Norman conquest of 1066 - yes, the North East has seen its share of foreign invaders. Different people from different times and different worlds - with only one thing in common - they all loved to get pissed!
Join the pissheads - Pob, Staggy, Bettsy and Stu - as they wreak havoc in their little corner of the world, Walker. Their local, The Walker Arms, is about to close down, unless the landlord can find the £50,000 he owes the council. Local property developer Mike Hunt is waiting to snap it up at auction so he can level it and build some trendy apartments on the site. Their quest to save their local takes them from the back streets of Walker into the jaws of the abyss that is Sunderland. Barred from the buses and Metro they have to use all of their ingenuity, charm, wit, balls and bottle to make this epic journey across two rivers into the heart of enemy territory, to find the legendary musician Floyd Rawlins III - the only man who may be able to help save the pub. If you like drinking, getting drunk, having a laugh and taking the piss out of your mates then this is the film you’ve been waiting your whole life for.
Pissheads is a rude, crude, no-holds-barred comedy by FNA Films - a low-budget comic take on social realism. Think Superbad meets Mike Leigh or Naked as made by Judd Apatow and you’ll get the picture.
