You may remember this entry from last year when we had shot a test scene for Pissheads. We were thrilled in the edit with how the scene was looking and how it was all coming together... The problem is as time passed and we managed to look on the cut with fresh eyes we realised that we'd made a crucial error of judgment in the cutting room. You see we shot on the sooper dooper Red One camera - and unfortunately we fell in love with the incredibly pretty pictures that our DoP, Si Bell shot for us. This left us stuck between stools - the fake documentary was fighting against the pretty, cinematic footage that we had.
We compromised our vision and let ourselves be seduced by some stunning photography. In the last few weeks we have worked on recutting the scene with an emphasis on what we had intended in the first place... rough and ready docu-style story of 4 Geordie lads trying to get to Sunderland. We are now completely back on track and happy to be moving forward with our film.
Great meeting with NFM this week, business plan is coming together and finally the film seems to be coming to life! GOOD TIMES.
